SHERIFF’S LOG The following information was received from Polk County Sheriff Scott Sawyer for the week of June 25, 2018 – July 1, 2018. The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts. Individuals charged and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges have been dismissed or that they have been found innocent and we will include that information in this space in a timely manner.

 

June 25, 2018 Report from a medical clinic of a dog bite victim. Owner was advised to quarantine the animal for ten days. Traffic stop on Highway 8 West near Shady Grove led to the arrest of Rusty J. Stine, 22, of Mena, on Charges of DWI and Expired Tags. Request for assistance from a Grannis Police Officer on Polk 13 near Wickes. Deputy responded. Arrested by an officer with the Grannis Police Department was Stephenie Ashcraft, 26, of Wickes, on a Warrant for Possession of Meth or Cocaine with Purpose to Deliver, Simultaneous Possession of Drug & Firearms and two counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Also arrested by an officer with the Grannis Police Department was Ty Beckwith, 21, of Wickes, on a Warrant for Possession of Meth or Cocaine with Purpose to Deliver, Simultaneous Possession of Drugs & Firearms and two counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

 

June 26, 2018 Report from complainant on Polk 84 near Big Fork of a stolen vehicle. Investigation determined that the vehicle was not stolen, and the issue was a civil matter. Report from complainant on Polk 32 near Cove of being dog bit. Investigation continues. Report from complainant on School Street in Cove of the theft of a phone, valued at $30.00. Deputy responded. Arrested was David Kern, 60, of Mena, on a Warrant for Non-Financial Identity Fraud. Arrested was Jerry D. Edwards, 47, of Mena, on a Warrant for Absconding.

 

June 27, 2018 Report from complainant on Polk 19 near Cove of being harassed via social media. Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration. Arrested was Joel Torres, 45, of Waldron, on a Warrant for Parole Revocation. Arrested was Tyler W. Everett, 26, of Mena, on a Drug Court Sanction.

 

June 28, 2018 Report of a missing juvenile from Oklahoma being located in Polk County led to a Citation for Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile being issued to Taryn Cunningham, 18, of Tahlequah, OK. The juvenile was released to the custody of a parent/guardian. Report from complainant that their vehicle had been sold without their permission. Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

 

June 29, 2018 Arrested by an officer with Arkansas Probation & Parole was Ava M. Dixon, 24, of Gillham, on a Probation/Parole Hold. Report from complainant on Polk 66 near Opal of an unauthorized person on their property. Deputy responded. Report from complainant on School Street in Cove of damage done to a trailer. Investigation continues.

 

June 30, 2018 Report from a Mena man of problems regarding child custody exchange. Report from complainant on Highway 88 East near Cherry Hill of being threatened by an acquaintance. Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration. Arrested by an officer with the Grannis Police Department was Lawrence E. Houser, 31, of Wickes, on a Charge of Domestic Battery 3 rd Degree. Arrested was Nicole C. Renard, 38, of Mena, on a Charge of Public Intoxication.

 

July 1, 2018 Report of a suspicious person led to a 14-year-old female being issued a Juvenile Citation for Disorderly Conduct. The juvenile was released to the custody of a parent/guardian. Report from complainant on Highway 8 East near Board Camp of the theft of cash and jewelry, all valued at $3,250.00, led to a 14-year-old female being issued Juvenile Citations for Breaking & Entering and Theft of Property. The juvenile was released to the custody of a parent/guardian. Report from complainant on Polk 69 near Opal of firecrackers being set off in their mailbox. Investigation continues. Report of a structure fire on Polk 58 near Board Camp. Investigation continues into the origin of the fire. Report of a suspicious person on Polk 129 near Rocky led to the arrest of Stacie L. Shores, 28, of Mena, on Warrants for Bond Revocation and two counts of Felony Failure to Appear. Arrested was Fernando D. Deleon, 36, of Cove, on two Body Attachment Warrants. Arrested was Kennith A. Kyle, 37, of Mena, on a Parole Hold.

 

Polk County Sheriff’s Office worked four vehicle accidents this week. Polk County Detention Center Jail Population: 24 Incarcerated Inmates, with 6 Inmates currently on the Waiting List for a State Facility.
