Billy O. Beam

February 3, 1936 - December 10, 2018

 

Billy O. Beam, age 82, of Mena, died Monday, December 10, 2018 at Rich Mountain Nursing and Rehab in Mena. He was born on Monday, February 3, 1936 to Orva J. and Fannie Elizabeth Beam in Mount Ida, Arkansas.

Bill was a certified public accountant in Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma for over 50 years and served as a member of the Peer Review Board of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Peer Review Committee, and Chair of the Arkansas Society of Certified Public Accountants and various other positions of the ASCPA. In his free time, Bill enjoyed hunting deer at his cabin in Washington County near Devil's Den State Park. He spent much of the fall hunting season there communing with nature. Bill was a father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joyce Beam; one sister, Charlene Irwin; and one brother, John Beam.

Bill is survived by one son and daughter in law, Randy and Cynthia Martin of Mena; two daughters and sons in laws, Janna and Christian Cochran of Kansas City, Missouri, and Jennifer and Brett Owenby of Elk, Washington; one sister, Pauline Gill of Yakima, Washington; five grandchildren, Quinn Cochran of Chicago, Illinois, Reece Cochran of Kansas City, Missouri, T.J. Schoeppey of Mena, Andrew Schoeppey of Houston, Texas, and Kaitlyn Schoeppey of Washington DC; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in Mena, Arkansas with Brother Russell Threet officiating. Interment will follow on Monday in the Milum Cemetery in Lead Hill, Arkansas. Visitation will be Friday, December 14, 2018 from 6-8 P.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena.
