Forest Service officials have announced today that a section of the Talimena Scenic Drive from the Arkansas State line to U.S. 259 in LeFlore County will be temporarily closed for repairs beginning Tesday, April 28, 2020.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation will make repairs to the road and culverts damaged by years of erosion. It is estimated the repairs will be completed by May 1 depending on weather.

“The Oklahoma Department of Transportation and the Forest Service are working together to help forest visitors enjoy the views of the Talimena Scenic Drive safely,” said Scott Osborne, Oklahoma Ranger District acting district ranger.
