Forest Service roads in Polk County to close intermittently during powerline installation
HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (June 29, 2021) - Forest officials will be intermittently closing Forest Service roads 7130, 30C, N56, and PK 405 located approximately 10 miles south of Mena, Ark., in Polk County from June 29 – July 30.
The closures are necessary for public safety as a new powerline is being installed adjacent to the roads.
“Timber is being removed from the powerline right-of-way,” said Mena-Oden District Ranger Tim Oosterhous. “There will be a lot of activity with timber harvesting equipment in the road and clearing the corridor for the new powerline. We will close the roads with a barricade during periods when the work is being done.”
