Donald Michael Fretz, age 79, of Hatfield, Arkansas, died Monday, August 20, 2018 at his home in Mena. He was born on Wednesday, February 8, 1939 to Theodore and Helen Pearl Havens Fretz in Hatfield, Arkansas.

Donald was always a laid back easy going guy. He honorably served his country in the United States Army and was a longtime active member of the DAV, VFW and American Legion. Donald was always happy to volunteer flag duty on holidays. His family was incredibly important to him and nothing gave him more joy than spending time with his grandchildren. His boys were is proudest accomplishment in life. He retired from the Polk County Road Department and enjoyed building cars and attending auctions. Donald was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a great friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Fretz; one brother, Allen "Bub"Fretz; and one sister, Betty Evans.

Donald is survived by two sons and daughters in law, Teddy and Sue Fretz of Mena, and Mark and Tanya Fretz of Mena; one brother, Warren Fretz of Wichita Falls, Texas; one sister, Judy Broyles of Mena; five grandchildren, Teddi Sullivan of Mena, Kayla Penny of Mena, Erica Manley of Mena, Talissa Fretz of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, and Chandler Fretz of Mena; nine great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 24, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel with Buddy Hooper officiating. Interment will follow in the Six Mile Cemetery in Hatfield. A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 6-8 P.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel.

Pallbearers are Jim Crowley, Chris Crowley, Mike Crowley, Michael Manley, Jason Sullivan, and Josh Penny.

Honorary pallbearers are Richard Broyles, Eddie Cross, Dalton Simmons, and David Gilbert.
