Wyona Abbott age 76 of Mena passed away Monday, August 12, 2019 in Mena.

She was born on November 29, 1942 in Poteau, Oklahoma to the late Homer Rogers and the late Dorthay Patterson Rogers.

Wyona was a devout Christian and a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Mena. She served as the organist and led the music ministry at St. Agnes for over 40 years.

She and her husband Jim owned and operated Coast to Coast after her dad’s retirement in 1982. Wyona had a talent for selecting unique merchandise and together she and Jim developed and customized the store’s giftware sales.

Wyona was a longtime member of the Beta Sigma Phi. She enjoyed quilting, harmonizing with her dad and gathering with beloved friends and classmates from the MHS Class of 1960.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Dorthay Rogers, an infant son Patrick Lynn Abbott, and one grandson Joshua Abbott.

She is survived by husband: Jim Abbott of 58 years

Son: Brian Abbott and wife Salli of Branson, Missouri

Daughter: Susan Abbott Umbarger and husband Ken of Nacogdoches, Texas

Brothers: Roy Rogers and wife LaVonda of Texarkana, Arkansas and David Rogers of Colorado

Grandchildren: Jessica Lambert of Mena, Arkansas and Hannah Abbott of Conway, Arkansas

Great-grandchildren: James Lambert of Mena, Arkansas, Zakary Abbott of Mena, Arkansas, and Cody Abbott of Mena, Arkansas

Brother-in-law: Gus Abbott of Tulsa, Oklahoma

Sisters-in-law: Nancy Abbott of Owasso, Oklahoma and Anita Abbott of Tulsa, Oklahoma

Nephews: Tracy and Crystal Rogers of Texarkana, Arkansas and Tony Rogers of Texarkana, Arkansas

Cousin: Ginger Bopp of Eugene, Oregon who was like a sister

Niece: Karen Perrine of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas who was like a daughter

Special friends: Linda Faulkner, Larayne Risenhoover, Betty Smith, David and Kay Alley, Liz Super, Marion Titsworth, Mike and Sharon Rostollan, Bernice Hembree, Jose Hernandez, Diane Rotter and Carol Gray.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Father Joseph Shantiraj as Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.

Visitation will be Friday, August 16, 2019 6:00 p.m. with Rosary being said at 7:00 p.m. at Beasley Wood Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be the Knights of Columbus.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation (Parkinson.org) or to St. Agnes Church, 203 Eighth Street, Mena, Arkansas 71953.
