Michael Fredrick Obituary

Michael Joe Frederick age 69, of Mena, Arkansas, died, Sunday, July 17, 2022 at his home. He was born in 1953 to Joseph and Jewel Frederick in Bakersfield, California.

Michael was a loving husband, step-father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and will be missed by all who knew him. While having no biological children of his own, he opened his life and his devoted heart to his life companion Mona, her children, and her grandchildren. He would open his home to help those in need and give when he had so little to give. Many have been heard saying he was the kind of man that would "give the shirt off of his back". A devout man of Christ, he would pray over the bible scriptures every day, sometimes for hours on end. Known to most as "Big Mike", his love for Jesus and God was his first priority. Psalms 1 1:2 describes him best.

Psalms 1:

1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

Mike was political. One could often see his support and love for his nation with his Facebook posts. He was avidly pro-gun and Republican. Many who knew him knew how fiercely he loved his family, his country and his Lord.

Michael spent time in many places. Born in California, he grew up with his four brothers and sisters, Thomas, Daniel, Cynthia and Janet, and his half brother Richard Bauder III. Travelling a lot as a child, he resided for a short time in the states of California, Washington, Alaska, as well as Blythesville AirForce Base in Arkansas. As an adult, he moved around a little bit. He spent time in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at a commune full of friends and would often reminisce about his time there. When he met his life partner Mona, he fell head over heels in love. Inseparable since 1990, they had a previous home together in Tennessee before moving to Arkansas in 2012. He loved Mona, her kids and grandchildren, his bikes and his guns, and wouldn't be caught very often without his signature bandana on his forehead. His big heart and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew him.

Michael is preceded in death by his loving companion Mona Bailey, his parents Joseph Frederick and Jewel (Tanner) Frederick-Bauder, his brother Daniel Frederick, and his step-father Richard J. Bauder.

Michael is survived by; sisters Janet Lipsou and Cynthia Frederick, his half brother Richard Bauder III, and his brother Thomas Frederick, his companion's children Michael Van Hekken, Criseldis Van Hekken, his companion's grand children Claire Ollie, Paris Haigood, Kai Browning, and Kennedy Ollie, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena, Arkansas. The family would like to welcome anyone who would like to add a picture to his celebration of life. If you would like to add a picture, please contact his life companion's son Michael Van Hekken. His celebration of life service will be held on a date to be announced.
