Beth Merlene Ward, age 90, of Mena, died Saturday, November 19, 2022 at her home with her son by her side. She was born on Saturday, April 30, 1932 to Robert Urie McClenahan and Edna Frances Clark in Morganville, Kansas.
Beth was very passionate and could be very stubborn, but ultimately she had a loving and compassionate heart. She was a registered nurse, and she spent her entire life easing the burden of others in any way she could, both in work and in life. Beth made a difference in countless lives, whether a stranger or a friend, her heart was with anyone in pain. She loved her son with her whole being and his happiness was her top priority. Her compassion and caring spirit was beautiful to witness, and served as a role model to all around her.
Beth was a loving mother, sister, aunt and friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stewart Ward; one brother, Francis McClenahan; and one sister, Bonnie Hannan.
Beth is survived by her son, Kris Ward of Mena; one brother and sister in law, Robert Clark and Eula McClenahan of San Antonio, Texas; three sisters and brothers in law, Patsy and Harold Garner of Eureka, Kansas, Janice Jones of Blacksburg, Virginia, and Marilyn and David Brecheisen of Illinois; one grandchild, Mario Vincent Ward of Bisaccia, Italy; and one great grandchild, Alexander Ward of Bisaccia, Italy; several nephews and nieces and a host of other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
