Herman Glenn Bittle Obituary

Herman Glenn Bittle age 69 of Mena, Arkansas passed away Friday, May 29, 2018

He was born on August 28, 1948 to Guy and Hazel Carr Bittle in Heber Springs, Akansas. Glenn was a member of the Church of Christ and served his country in the United States Army. He also drove a truck for 38 years.Glenn and his wife Vicki were married on December 3, 1977 in Mena, Arkansas. Above all Glenn loved God and his family. He was loving and thoughtful husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and friend to all. 


He is survived by wife: Vicki Bittle of Mena, Arkansas


Daughters: Emily Bevill and husband Matt of Mena, Arkansas, Amy Alvis and husband Calvin of Mena, Arkansas


Grand-daughter: August Alvis of Mena, Arkansas


Brother: Howard Lee and wife Merel of Ft. Worth, Texas


Sister: Joyce Holman of Ada, Oklahoma


Sisters-in-law: Judy Rice and husband Cliff of Lubbock, Texas and Beverly Bruster of Mena, Arkansas


Brother-in-law: Roger Bruster and wife Leianna of Mena, Arkansas


Many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.


He was preceded in death by his parents Guy and Hazel Bittle, father-in-law and mother-in-law Hollie and Jewel Bruster, brother-in-law Jeffery Holeman, his grandparents, and many aunts and uncles.

Mr. Bittle was sent for cremation under the direction of the Beasley Wood Funeral Home of Mena.


A memorial service will be held June 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Christ, Highway 71 South , Mena, Arkansas.

Tommy Lee Woods, Jr. Obituary

Tommy Lee Woods, Jr. age 50 of Cove Arkansas passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2018 in Cove.

Tommy was born in Batesville, Mississippi on November 7, 1967 to the late Tommy L. Woods Sr and Dorothy “Dot” Youmans Hooper. He was married to Patricia Bailey Woods. Tommy worked for Hatfield Lumber Company as a shop foreman and mechanic. He attended Cove First Baptist Church and loved going to church. Tommy enjoyed hot rods, fast boats and motorcycles, anything with a little speed. Above all he loved God and his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Tommy touched everyone he met and was loved by all. He will be forever and dearly missed.

Son: Chris Woods and wife Valeri of Cove, Arkansas

Grandchildren: Christian and Caseyn Woods of Cove, Arkansas

Mother: Dot Hooper and husband Tommy of Gentry, Arkansas

Sister: Cindy Conaster and husband Jason of Mena, Arkansas

Sisters-in-law: JoAnn and Eddie Kesterson of Hatfield, Arkansas, and Judy and Tony Fairless of Hatfield, Arkansas

Host of nieces, nephews and other friends.

He was preceded in death by father Tommy Lee Woods, Sr., stepmother Sandra Woods, mother and father in law W.C. and Josephine Bailey.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Cove First Baptist with Brother Ron Ladd officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery at Cove, Arkansas under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.

Family and friends visitation will be Friday, June 1, 2018 at Beasley Wood Chapel from 6:00-8:00-p.m.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Kesterson, Tony Fairless, Sheldon Davis, Carlos Arce, Tracy Suire and Dane Ward.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Davis, Danny Wilson and Chris Onstad.

Dorothy Smith Womack Obituary

Dorothy Smith Womack age 86 passed away Monday, May 28, 2018 in Mena, Arkansas.


She was born in Lawton, Oklahoma on December 15, 1931 to the late Cullis and Ada Humphreys. Dorothy was married to the late Gene Smith on December 20, 1949. She was a member of the Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Cove, Arkansas. Dorothy was a loving and thoughtful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great- grandmother, sister, and friend to all.
 

She is survived by son: Ron Smith and wife Marvetta 


Daughter: Tonya Sharp and husband Don

 

Grandchildren: Brock Whittington and wife Jaime, Bethany Nichols and husband Tony, Casey Smith, Nakia Bennett

Carolyn Ann Copelin age 62 of Mena, Arkansas passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018 in Mena.

Carolyn was born May 01, 1956 in Ink, Arkansas to the late Ralph A. Holland and the late Lois Barton Holland. She was married to Stephen P. Copelin for forty-six happy years. Carolyn attended First Assembly of God Church. She worked for Louise Durham cafeteria for 37 years and was a wonderful cook and cake designer. Carolyn loved and enjoyed going camping and fishing with husband Steve. Above all she loved and treasured her family, more than herself. She was a loving wife, grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her.

She is survived by husband: Stephen P. Copelin of Mena, Arkansas

Adopted son: Hayden Copelin of Mena, Arkansas

Grandchild: Colton Copelin of Hot Springs, Arkansas 

Brother: Jack Holland of Mena, Arkansas

Close friends: Jackie Thacker, Debbie Jeffcoat and Jo Williams.

She was preceded in death by her son Timothy P. Copelin, and her parents, Ralph and Lois Holland, and a infant brother, Owen Holland.

Funeral service will be Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at First Assembly of God Church with Brother Ron Tilley and Brother Tim Rose officiating. Interment will follow in the Concord Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.

Family and friend’s visitation will be Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Beasley-Wood.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Rand, Larry Rogers, Ronnie Spoon, Ken Hafferty, Mike Shaddon, London Copelin, Bobby Copelin and Justin Hensley.

Janet McCord
October 15, 1954 - May 26, 2018
 
Janet McCord, age 63 of Judsonia, Arkansas, died, Saturday, May 26, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Friday, October 15, 1954 to Marvin Lee and Ola Pauline Mize Turner in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. 
 
Janet was a diligent worker who earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education from UALR with Magna Cum Laude distinctions. She applied her education for many years at Cossatot Technical College and Rich Mountain Community College as an Adult Education Instructor, helping others obtain the education necessary to better their lives. Janet employed her God given gifts in three ministries: being a faithful pastor's wife to David for 38 years, a caring and loving mother to Leah and Todd, and helping others through her work as an Adult Educator. Janet's hobbies were a natural manifestation of her love and care for others; she delighted in creating quilts and homemade crafts for others, actively participating in the ministries of the churches she committed herself as a member, and demonstrating her love as witness to her redemption through her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Janet was a faithful disciple of Jesus, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and member of First Baptist Church in Searcy. She is loved by her family and will be deeply missed. 
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Ola Turner; her son, Todd McCord; her sister-in-law, Ann Brown Turner; father and mother-in-law, Eddie and Margie McCord and her nephew, John McCord.
 
Janet is survived by her husband of 38 years, David M. McCord of Judsonia, Arkansas; her daughter and son in law, Leah and David B. Dixon of Neches, Texas; grandchildren, David C. Dixon and Alexis Dixon of Neches, Texas; her brothers and sisters in law; Ken Turner and Connie Wells of Madison, Mississippi and Mark and Starla Turner of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; her sister and brother in law, Martha and Sam Roberts of Stuttgart, Arkansas; her brother-in-law and sister in law, Bob and Denise McCord of Norman, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
 
Funeral service will be Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church in Searcy, Arkansas with Dr. Brian Whitney and Brother David B Dixon officiating. Interment is to follow at 3:00 P.M. at the Mount Ida Cemetery at Mount Ida, Arkansas under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 9:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church in Searcy. Arrangements are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena, Arkansas.
 
Pallbearers will be Gordan Ingram, Burl Collinsworth, Richard Lochala, Anthony Moore, Charles Halbert, and Jason Hendricks.

Milton Martin Harned Obituary

Milton Martin Harned, age 87, of Mena, Arkansas passed away May 25, 2018 in Mena, Arkansas.
 
Milton was born in Ft. Worth, Texas on September 3, 1930 to the late Walter Thomas Harned and the late Jewell Miller Harned. He worked as a Machinist for many years. He loved NASCAR and greatly enjoyed good music. Some of his favorites were Elvis, Johnny Cash and Marty Robbins. Milton was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be dearly missed by all. 
 
He is survived by his wife: Lillian Harned

Laura Ann Robbins, age 91, of Mena, Arkansas, died Friday, May 25, 2018 in Pencil Bluff, Arkansas. She was born on Monday, December 13, 1926 to William Henry and Emma Lee Williams Blanks in San Angelo, Texas.

Ann was a member of the Northside Church of Christ in Mena where she enjoyed fellowshipping with her church family. She lived her life for the Lord. Ann had the gift of hospitality and was a gracious hostess. She loved her family and enjoyed nature. Ann also enjoyed working in her garden, baking sweets for her family, and cooking; her family loved her red beans. Ann and her family were honored as Polk County Farm Family of the Year; she was very proud of her family's dedication to the family farm. Ann was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilburn Robbins; her daughter in law, Brenda Robbins and her sister in law, Ann Blanks.

Ann is survived by three sons and two daughters in law, Tim Robbins of Mena, Mark and Karen Robbins of Mena, and Will and Laura Robbins of Pearl River, Louisiana; two daughters and sons in law, Jan and Bob Young of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Trish and Gordon Petrosky of Billings, Montana; her brother and sister, Bill Blanks of Tolar, Texas and Morgann Jack of San Luis Obispo, California; eleven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, plus several nieces and nephews and numerous relatives and friends.

The interment will be Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at the Pinecrest Memorial Park in Mena under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena. A memorial service will follow the burial at 11:00 A.M. at the Northside Church of Christ in Mena. No visitation is planned. Arrangements are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena.

Paul "Moose" Jr. Smith

Paul "Moose" Jr. Smith, age 79, of Mena, Arkansas, died Sunday, May 20, 2018. He was born June 7, 1938 to Paul Elijah, and Alma Aliene Brown Smith.

Paul served in the United States Army for seventeen years and achieved Sergeant 1st Class. He spent 40 years as a concrete finisher, but was happiest when fishing, hunting or gardening.

Paul was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Mena. His Christian faith was very important to him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Correne Smith, great granddaughter Bethanie Frost, brother Arthur Smith, and sister Barbara Walcott.

Paul is survived by two sons, Pete Smith and wife Sharon of Mena, Michael Smith and wife Margie, Debbie Rogers and husband Larry, three grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Cremation services are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home of Mena, Arkansas. Memorial Services will be held at the First Freewill Baptist Church on May 31 at 2:00 PM.

Bertha Davis age 99, of Mena, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018 in Mena, Arkansas.

 


Bertha was born on August 26, 1918 in Stamford, Connecticut to the late Henry Landsfeld and the late Marie Slaner Landsfeld. She enjoyed cooking meals for her family and friends. Bertha had a kind and thoughtful heart and she showed her concern by helping neighbors and others when help was needed. Most of all she loved her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all who knew her.

Preceded in death by parents Henry and Marie Landsfeld, husband W.R. “Bill” Davis, sister Rose Landsfeld and Mary Cavallerano and a brother Jerry Landsfeld.
The family would like to acknowledge Vicky Hughes and staff at Rich Mountain Nursing and Rehab for their special care and attention to our mother.
Funeral services will be Monday, May 21, 2018 at Beasley Wood Chapel at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Jerry Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the White Oak Cemetery in Mena, Arkansas under the direction of the Beasley Wood Funeral Home of Mena.


Family and friend’s visitation will be Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Beasley Wood Chapel from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
