James Archie Cline Obituary

James Archie Cline, age 78, of Hatfield, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2020 in Mena.

He was born to the late Jennings William Cline and the late Cora Dell Hoover Cline on November 14, 1941 in Holdenville, Oklahoma. He was united in marriage to the late Mavis Cline. Archie was a stone mason by profession and was a hard worker, skilled carpenter, and an artist with his stonework. He loved to hunt and fish and spend time with his family. He was the most loving father and grandfather, and a friend to everyone. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by sons: Matt Cline and wife Sandra of Mena, Arkansas, A.J. Hickman and wife Kim of Smithville, Oklahoma, and Chris Cannon of Hatfield, Arkansas

Daughters: Sandy Day of Muse, Oklahoma, Carol Werst and friend Reggie Hamby of Smithville, Oklahoma, Dana Bojang and husband Ibrahima of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Chasidy Emerson of Hatfield, Arkansas

Brother: Bobby Cline of Poteau, Oklahoma

Sister: Sue Fairless of Hatfield, Arkansas

Twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, JW and Cora Cline; his wife, Mavis Cline; a son, Cody Dunn; a daughter, Theresa Ann Cline; a sister, Colleen Pannell; and 3 brothers, Benny, Delbert, and Dale Cline.

A graveside service for Mr. Cline will be held 10 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2020 at Ludlow Cemetery in Ludlow, Oklahoma with Bro. Todd Webb officiating. General visitation will be at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Don Cline, Brody Werst, JD Morris, Christian Field, Chris Cannon, and Matthew Cline. Honorary pallbearers will be Trey Martin, Lukas Beggs, Dustin Myers, AJ Hickman, Mike Cline, and Matt Cline.

Sandra Kay Yahn Obituary

 
Sandra Kay Yahn, age 75 of Mena, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord Friday, July 24, 2020 in Texarkana, Texas. She was born June 11, 1945 to the late Harold and Beulah Jones. She was born in Dennison, Texas and lived the remainder of her life in Mena, Arkansas.

Sandy is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Marvin. She was a faithful member of Abundant Life United Pentecostal Church and with a true love of the Lord and Savior studied the Bible everyday. Sandy loved gardening, quilting, puzzles and scrapbooking. With a heart full of love she also cherished her grandchildren. She was the most gentle and caring person you would ever want to meet and will be dearly missed by all.

She is survived by husband: Marvin Yahn of Mena, Arkansas

Daughters: Brenda Hamilton of Mena, Arkansas and Glenda Arnold and husband Steve of Texarkana, Arkansas

Grandchildren: Ethan Hamilton and Fiance’ Katelynn, Breanna Hamilton, Tiffany Burns and husband Chad, Benton Arnold and Teagan, Steven Arnold and wife Jazmine, Ty Arnold and wife Bennetta.

Great grandchildren: Rueben, Aubree, Cooper, Zane, Jentree, Jaxten, Avalynn Sue

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Harold Jones, sister-in-law Brenda Cecil, and nephew Chris Jones.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 28th, 2020, 10:00 a.m. at Abundant Life United Pentecostal Church in Mena, Arkansas with Brother Jack Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Gilead Cemetery under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Masks and gloves will be provided at the church. Family and friends visitation is scheduled for Monday, July 27, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.

Mrs. Imo Yvonne Tibbs Little, age 82, of Atchison, Kansas passed away Thursday, July 23, 2020 in Atchison.

Mrs. Little was born March 4, 1938 in Mena, Arkansas to Loyed and Martha Tibbs. Imo loved to sew for her family. She was a perfectionist in everything she did. She often made favorite treats when the grandkids came around. She was a loving pastor’s wife. She and her husband pastored in seven different towns, including Mt. Ida, AR; Round Mountain, CA; Blue Eye, AR; Green Forest, AR; and pastors assistant in Harrison, AR; Eureka Springs, AR; and Elsey, MO.

She is survived by her son, Robert Wayne Little and wife Anna of Flippin, AR; daughters, Teresa Yvonne (Little) Ogle and husband Paul of Atchison, KS, and Rhonda Wainette (Little) Houghton of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Regina (Little) Smith and husband Gerald, Jerah Little and wife Amanda, Andrew Little, Aaron Ogle and wife Victoria, Adina Ogle Nichols and husband Kayotte, Abigail Ogle Waller and husband Lance, Desiree Ogle, and Destinee Ogle; great-grandchildren, Daniel Smith, Brianna Smith, Rozalee Smith, Rebecca Smith, Lily Ogle, Scarlett Ogle, Oliver Ogle, Ada Waller, and Levi Nichols (coming in December); sister, Jane Mourtan; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Imo is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rev. Wayne Little; sisters, Lourine Tibbs Lance, Barbara Tibbs Hanks; brothers, Marvin Othel Tibbs, Charles (Billy) Tibbs, and Loyd Lee Tibbs.

A graveside service for Mrs. Little will be 10:00a.m. Monday, July 27, 2020 at Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Rocky, Arkansas with Rev. Paul Ogle and Lance Waller officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, July 26, 2020 from 6p.m. to 8p.m. at the funeral home.

Mary Reynolds

August 11, 1951 - July 16, 2020

 

Mary Jane Reynolds, of Mena, Arkansas fought a brave battle against cancer. Surrounded by loved ones, Mary passed away peacefully in the comforts of her home.

Mary Reynolds was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on August 11, 1951. Mary and her husband, Larry Reynolds were residents of Mena. She enjoyed working in their yard, attending to their home and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

During her years in Mena, she made many friends with whom she cherished. Mary and Larry were known as the "Porch Couple" who waved to all that passed down Reeves Street.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Jeannie and adopted father, Kenneth Seale and her biological father, James Sonnier; her brothers, Rene Soonier and Robert Seale.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Reynolds of Mena, two daughters, Bobbie Himel and spouse, Milton Himel of Mena, Arkansas and Karen Picard and significant other, Tony Nocito of Marrero, Louisiana; brother, Bill Oglesby of Ashville, North Carolina; her grandchildren: Misty Miller, Bernie Metrejean Jr and Fancee` Brooke Wilson, Brice Metrejean, Mathieu Picard, Paige Picard; along with four great grandchildren with fifth due to arrive in September; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

The memorial service will be Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. Mena First Assembly of God in Mena with Brother Ron Tilley officiating. Cremation services are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena, Arkansas.

Sam Varner Obituary

Mr. Sam J. Varner, age 89, of Hatfield, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2020 in Mena.

Mr. Varner was born on December 30, 1930 in Hatfield, Arkansas to Earl and Pearl Varner. He was a graduate of Hatfield High School and served his country in the United States Army. He was elected Polk County Judge, a member of the Lions Club of Hatfield. For seventy-five years he expressed his gift of music through his guitar.

He is survived by his brother, Bob Varner; four sons; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A graveside service for Mr. Varner will be 2:00p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2020 at Six Mile Cemetery in Hatfield, Arkansas under the direction of Beasley Wood Funeral Home. There is general visitation and viewing at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to Hatfield Cemetery Association.

He was a member of Hatfield Church of Christ. He exhibited the character traits of love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control.

He knew the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments for this is the whole duty of man.

Mary Helen Stalcup Valdois, age 92, of Mena, Arkansas passed away Thursday, July 16, 2020 in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

She was born December 15, 1927 in Tennessee to the late Gerald and Lucille Stahlkuppe. Mary was an Architect for Bowing Aircraft and she was a Captain of the Civil Air Patrol. She hobbies included crocheting, fishing and she enjoyed talking politics with anyone who would listen. She also enjoyed singing and loved the Lord. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Survivors are grandchildren: Chris Webb, Charles Webb and wife Elizabeth, Abbie, Annie and Gracie Baker,a nd Starla Crump

Great-grandchildren: Liberty and Justice Webb and Gracie Baker

Brothers: Gerald “Joe” Stahlkuppe and wife Cathie, Jack Stahlkuppe, and Dr. Gene Stalcup and wife Patsy

Sisters: Charlene Askew and Susan Snead

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 husbands, and her son Lloyd Kromka.

Graveside service will be Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Nunley Cemetery in Nunley, Arkansas with Brother Joe Stahlkuppe officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.

Joseph Raymond Fields Obituary

Mr. Joseph Raymond Fields, Jr., age 78, of Cove passed away Thursday, July 16, 2020 in Waldron, Arkansas.

Joseph was born in Bell, CA on January 22, 1942 to the late Joseph Raymond Fields, Sr., and the late Ella Mae Brown Fields. Joseph was married to his wife Mary Hurst Fields for 34 years. Mr. Fields was a mason by profession and loved his work. Joseph liked to do things that involved using his hands, such as woodworking, working on lawn mowers, motors, and even splitting wood. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all that knew him and will be dearly missed by all.

Survived by wife: Mary Fields of Cove, Arkansas

Grandson: Andrew C. Rogers and wife Kayla of Leesburg, Georgia

Brother: Mark Fields

Also survived by many church friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Corrina Shay Rogers.

Mr. Fields was sent for cremation under the direction of Beasley Wood Funeral Home of Mena. A celebration of Life service will be held at First Baptist Church in Hatfield, Arkansas at a later date.

Penny Thomas Obituary

Wanda May Thomas, lovingly known as Penny, age 88 of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2020 in Mena.

She was born April 6, 1932 in Potter, Arkansas to the late Alvin Powell and Annie Horton Powell. Mrs. Thomas loved to babysit in the 60’s and 70’s and later moved on to buying and selling at her flea market. Penny enjoyed baking, fishing, and going to yard sales. She loved being outside, especially going on drives through the country looking for muscadines. Penny enjoyed playing games in her free time, Yahtzee and Skipbo were two of her favorites. She was a faithful member of the Union Mission Pentecostal Church of God and she loved giving back to people. She was the most loving, caring, trusting person you would ever want to meet and will be dearly missed by a host of friends and family.

She is survived by son: Terry Ketchum of Mena, AR

Daughters: Glenda Lambert and husband Buddy of Mena, AR and Beverly Sudermann and husband James of Cocoa, FL

Grandchildren: Brandy Sparks, Cade Lambert, Tyse Lambert, Gage Lambert and wife Sarah, and Peter Sudermann

Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 25th at 10 a.m. at Union Mission Pentecostal Church of God in Mena, Arkansas with Brother Lewis Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Cemetery under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
 
Pallbearers will be Dale McLain, Billy Joe McLain, Buddy Lambert, Tyse Lambert, Gage Lambert, and Cade Lambert. Honorary Pallbearer is Roger Myers.
 
There will be a scheduled visitation Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Beasley Wood Chapel.

Mr. William Joseph Watson, age 68, of Mena passed away Tuesday July 14, 2020 in Mena.

William was born May 24, 1952 in Tipton, Georgia to the late William Jackson Watson the late Joy Jolly Watson. William was a truck driver by trade and loved driving his truck. Mr. Watson enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Marvin was born on December 15, 1933 in Mena to Simmon and Alice (Holiday) Fryar. He was a truck driver and loved to take walks around Janssen Park. He will be dearly missed.

Virgil A. Kaltenbach, age 89, of Mena, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2020 at his home surrounded by loved ones.

He was born November 27, 1930 in Travers City, Michigan to the late Fred Kaltenbach and Ella Kadlec Kaltenbach. He was united in marriage to Betty Sue Lawrence. Virgil’s occupation was a tree surgeon which he thoroughly enjoyed and did most of his life. He loved flowers and had an immaculate flower garden. He was known to have the best garden in town. Virgil was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend. He will be dearly missed.

Survivors are wife: Betty Sue Kaltenbach

Four children, two sisters, and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two children, five brothers, and three sisters.

There will be a general visitation and viewing for family and friends will be Monday to Wednesday until 4:00 p.m. Mr. Kaltenbach will be sent for cremation under the direction of Beasley Wood Funeral Home. No services are planned at this time.

Reverend Perry Eugene Hart

March 16, 1945 - July 1, 2020

 

Reverend Perry Eugene Hart, age 75, of Mena, Arkansas died Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at the Riverside Health Services in Arkoma, Oklahoma. He was born on Friday, March 16, 1945 to the Reverend M.L. and Leatrice Katherine Baughn Hart in Blossom, Texas but he always let you know that he was born AGAIN on Dec.4, 1964.

At the age of 20, Perry entered the ministry. He served as Youth Pastor, Evangelist, Senior Pastor, had a prison ministry and served as Chaplin at DFW airport. In 1981, he moved his family to Alaska to serve as missionary to Minto, Alaska, Kake, Alaska, and various native villages there for 16 years. He was adopted into the Wolf Clan by a Tlingit Chief, Richard King of Klukwan. In 1997, he moved to Mena, Arkansas to pastor Faith Center Ministries (now known as Canaanland Church).

Perry's joy in life was serving the Lord. He always looked around for someone, (usually total strangers) hurting or in need, shared the Gospel with them and prayed for them. He also found great joy in his family. Everything he did was done with his wife, children. and/or grandchildren in mind. He was a loving, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and pastor and will be missed by all who knew him.

Perry is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Charles Hart and daughter Lydia Charlie of Minto, Alaska.

Perry is survived by loving wife of 53 years, Sue Emmons Hart of Mena; three sons, Joey Hart and wife Kjari of Fairbanks, Alaska, Brandon Hart of Mena and Billy Joe Hart of Mena; three daughters, Dianna De La Garza and husband, Eddie of Los Angeles, California, Julie Moe and husband, Mike of Mena and Katherine Hart of Mena; two brothers, Joe Hart and Ronnie Hart of Detroit, Texas; two sisters, Delores Mitchell of Detroit, Texas and Nina Delaney of Hutchins, Texas; twenty two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Cremation serves are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena, Arkansas. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Sidney Mills Miller, Jr. Obituary

Sidney Mills Miller, Jr., age 92, of Mena, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2020 at his home surrounded by loved ones.

He was born July 7, 1927 in Manistique, Michigan to the late Sidney Mills Miller, Sr. and the late Addie Mae Clark Miller. He was united in marriage to Naomi Gagnon. Mr. Miller served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a self-employed carpenter contractor by profession. He also ran a community sawmill on the side for his family and friends and was a cattle farmer. After retirement, he enjoyed refinishing antique furniture. Mr. Miller was a hard worker and a loving family man who above all loved his Lord. He truly enjoyed talking about Jesus to anyone who was willing to listen. He will be dearly missed.

Barbara Ann Dehart, age 77, of Mena, Arkansas passed away on Monday, June 29, 2020 surrounded by family. She was born on Monday, May 24, 1943 to Herbert and Roberta Fuller Hook in Evansville, Indiana.

Barbara was of the Assembly of God faith, and was thankful of God's strength in her life. She spent her life caring for her family and home. Barbara was also a well known talented seamstress, helping a large number of people over the years with alterations. Barbara was a hard worker who did not know the meaning of the word can't. She enjoyed gardening, word search puzzles, and family gatherings full of reminiscing. Everyone always looked forward to her famous chicken and dumplings she made at holidays. Barbara was so proud of her family and all her grandchildren, and enjoyed every moment spent by their side. She enjoyed a quiet country life with her family and beloved dog, Sadie. Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and a great friend and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Wayne Dehart; and one sister, Diana Martin.

Barbara is survived by one son, Kevin Dehart of Mena; three daughters, Kim Plunkett of Mena, Kathy Keifer of Poteau, Oklahoma, and Kristi Dehart of Abilene, Texas; one brother and sister in law, Ken and Suzette Hook of California; one sister, Carolyn Davis of Ohio; eight grandchildren, Ty Plunkett of Mena, Ronnie Handy of Poteau, Oklahoma, Ashlie Harris of Mena, Colt Dehart of Mena, Cody Dehart of Mena, Brandon Keifer of Poteau, Oklahoma, Nathan Paschall of Abilene, Texas, Zoe Paschall and Kaden Winkles of Abilene, Texas; sixteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Delie Mae Evelyn Rhodes Forrest of Mena, age 86, passed away June 30, 2020 two days before her 65th wedding anniversary to Ezra Forrest.

Delie was born in Vandervoort, AR on June 18, 1934 to Monroe and Myrtle Rhodes of the Primitive Baptist Faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister.
 
She is survived by her husband Ezra Forrest of Mena, daughter Debra Needham of Hatfield, and son Randy Forrest of Mena. She had many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Delie lived in several different towns as an adult and made friends wherever she went. Her heart was always in Mena, where she and Ezra kept a home which they retired to in 1992. Her home is surrounded by a beautiful garden where she spent many happy hours. Delie Forrest made a living in sewing factories, but also sewed at home for pleasure. She loved listening and attending live music sessions and festivals. She enjoyed gardening, being with her extended family, and taking good care of her many animals that she had a special affiliation with.

Mrs. Forrest's visitation will be at the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home on Friday, July 3rd from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Beasley-Wood Chapel on Monday, July 6th at 2:00 p.m. with interment following at Pinecrest Memorial Park with Brother Donnie Jewell officiating.
 
Pallbearers will be Steve McMellon, Terry Martin, Randy Lindsey, Mike Rhodes, Loyd Knight and Lonnie Lance. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Dowdy, and Kenny Forrest.

Services are under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home in Mena.
