Eva Ann Moore, age 75, of Mena, Arkansas died, Wednesday, August 28, 2020 at her home. She was born on Wednesday, April 4, 1945 to Robert T. and Mattie Dick Harrison in Mena, Arkansas.

Eva was a woman that loved her family and grandchildren. After her children were raised, she began working at Cintas Uniform Company. She enjoyed country music, gardening, fishing, growing her flowers and bird watching. Eva was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her son, William David Moore and sister, Clara Moore.

Eva is survived by her ex-husband, Bill Moore of Hartford, Arkansas; two daughters and son in law, Deborah and Robbie Smith of Cape Coral, Florida and Melissa Moore of West Fork, Arkansas; two brothers, Robert Harrison of Mena and Marion Harrison of Farmington, Arkansas; one grandson, Joshua Smith of Georgetown, Ohio; two great grandchildren, Jackson and Clara Smith of Georgetown, Ohio; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside service will be Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at the Mount Gilead Cemetery at Rocky with Brother Todd Webb officiating. No visitation is planned. Arrangements are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena.

Pallbearers will be Danny Moore, Josh Smith, John Harrison, Robbie Harrison, Charlie Freeman and Henry Howard.

Neva Valrea Howard Obituary

Neva “Valrea” Howard passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2020 in Benton, Arkansas. Valrea was born on May 6, 1925 in Burlington, Kansas to Neva A. and Paul F. Bates. Valrea married Keith T. Howard in 1945 and they lived in Mena Arkansas until 1998. In 1998 they moved to Benton, Arkansas to be near their daughter and grandchildren.

Valrea was a talented seamstress and took great pride in making beautiful all handmade quilts which she sold all over the United States. She loved working in her yard and garden. The majority of her beautiful flowers were given to her by family or friends and each had a unique story.

Valrea was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Keith T. Howard, her mother Neva A. Bates, father, Paul F. Bates, brothers Edgar Allen Bates, Arthur Earl Bates, Robert Paul Bates and Ralph Ernest Rogers.

She is survived by her daughter, Drenda Page (Ken), Grandsons Brent Page and Dwayne Page (Lindy) and great grandchildren, Jacob Page (Codi), Peyton Page, Allison Page, Brayden Page, Teagen Page, great great grandchild Aria Elise Page and many nieces and nephews.

She dearly loved Sadi, her faithful dog that was always by her side.

Valrea will certainly be missed by all who loved her.

Honorary Pallbearers are Brent Page, Dwayne Page, Jacob Page, Peyton Page, Brayden Page and Teagen Page.

A graveside memorial service will be Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Pinecrest Memorial Park under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.

Linda Faye Autry Obituary

Linda Faye Autry, age 70, of Mena, Arkansas passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2020 in Mena.

Linda was born on February 10, 1950 in Sapulpa, OK to the late William Jack White and Mary Ruby Ivey. Mrs. Autry was a loving and kind “people person” to everybody she met. Some of her hobbies included going to flea markets, collecting angel figurines, and spending time with her secret sisters. She loved her family and the lord above anything else. And her dog JoJo had a special place in her heart. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by spouse: Gerald Victor Autry, Sr.

Sons: Harley Tim Elmore and wife Krystal, Wayne Lee Elmore, Gerald Autry Jr. and wife Donna, and Rusty Autry

Daughters: Susie Maddox and husband Mark, Sandra Jean Hollman and husband Kirk, and Deborah Loy Garver

Grandchildren: Jacky Elmore, Brandon Elmore, and Angel La Ray Kinney, Jesse Autry, Sarah Chatfield, McKenzie Maddox, Garrett Maddox, Greta Michael, and several other grandchildren.

Linda Autry’s service will be held at Lakeview Baptist Church in Mena on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 2:00p.m. with Brother Steve Rainy and Mark Lyle officiating. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park under the direction of Beasley Wood Funeral Home. Visitation will be general at Beasley Wood Tuesday and Wednesday. Pallbearers will be Wayne Elmore, Harley Elmore, Rusty Autry, Jerry Autry, Jackie Elmore, Bobby Wayne White.

Gerald Truman Lincks Obituary

Gerald Truman Lincks, age 59, of Mena, Arkansas passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2020 in Mena.

Gerald was born on December 21, 1960 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas to Jerry Lincks and Sharon Martinez and was married to the love of his life, Maren Dell Lincks, for 13 years. Gerald was a loving husband and a hard worker who loved music of all kinds and picking and playing his guitar. He was an excellent athlete in his younger years, excelling in several sports, and enjoyed keeping up with sports throughout his life. He served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower and was deployed for Operation Eagle Claw during the Iran hostage crisis. Gerald was loved and all who knew him will miss his great sense of humor, his wonderful mind, and his gentle spirit.

Rhonda Joan McCarley Obituary

Rhonda Joan McCarley received her wings Monday, August 24, 2020 at 83 years of age. She was born on April 26, 1937 to Thomas Crume and Hazel Dodd Crume, both teachers, in Seneca, NM. She fell in love with Doyle McCarley in Quemado, NM and they wed April 24, 1954, eloping on the senior trip. She graduated from Quemado High School in the class of 1954. She and Doyle moved to Albuquerque soon after and raised their family. Their first daughter, Rhonda Faye, was born in May of 1955. Their second daughter, Janet Elaine, was born in January of 1960.

Joan graduated from the University of New Mexico, class of 1970, and immediately began teaching 2nd grade at Matheson Park Elementary, eventually moving to 1st grade. She loved her students and they loved her. She taught there her entire career, retiring after 25 years.

When her husband, Doyle, passed in 2003, she made the decision to move to the home they had purchased 45 years before in Grannis, Arkansas. She said, “Doyle set up that home for us to live in, and I’m going to live there.” She moved from their home in Albuquerque to her land in Arkansas in 2005 and enjoyed many hours on her deck watching the trees grow.

She had a passion for reading all books and was an avid fiber artist. She made many afghans in her later years and loved to share them with her family and guests. She was a master at crossword puzzles and had a sharp sense of humor. She made sure her kids learned early to laugh even when things got hard, because It was so much more fun that way. If you spent any time with Joan, there was always much talking, laughing, drinking coffee, and sharing cake or treats. She loved to play cards and dominoes and was quite good at both.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Hazel (Dodd) Crume; her brothers, Thomas Crume, Elbert Crume, and Larry Crume; her husband, William Doyle McCarley; and her brother-in-law, Gordon Utah McCarley.

Joan is survived by her daughters, Rhonda McCarley LaVail and husband Forrest, and Elaine McCarley Decker and husband, Gary; grandchildren, Jay Yeich, Joyce Yeich, Matthew Yeich, Leslie Yeich, Jessie Shultz Saxon and husband Robert, Robert (Larney) Shultz and wife Mary, Kellie Shultz Moua and husband Andrew; many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins; and sisters-in-law, Faye McCarley Walters, Linda Crume, and Vicky Crume.

She leaves behind a legacy of strength, humor, integrity, and feistiness.

Dythia Dee Miller Obituary

Dythia "Dee" Miller

October 31, 1940 - August 24, 2020

 

Dythia "Dee" Miller, 79, of Enid, OK (formerly of Plymouth, IN) passed away Monday, August 24th at The Commons Nursing home in Enid. One of nine children, Dythia was born on October 31, 1940 in New York to Kenneth and Wilmetta (Vance) Miller. Dythia loved Arkansas and Oklahoma and would travel and live between there and Indiana. Dythia worked for many years at American Container in Plymouth, IN and Best Western Limetree Inn in Mena. AR where she would retire from in 2010. Dythia was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints-Plymouth, IN branch, and was very active until her health declined. On April 12, 1997, Dythia married Paul Miller. He would precede her in death on February 7, 2000.

Dythia is survived by her daughter Raymi Bope, granddaughter Jessica (Travis) Schieber and sons Aiden, Zyle and Bek, grandson Jason White and children Rilee Thornton-White, Jacee White and Kippton White, grandson Keith Spaid, two brothers, Doug (Betty) Miller and Jimmy Garrison. Dythia is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews as well as her best four-legged friend Charlie, who was always by her side.

Dythia was preceded in death by her son Ward Spaid, husbands, Robert Beauchamp and Paul Miller, brothers, Bruce Miller, Charlie Miller, Robert Miller, Clark Garrison, sisters, Rose Lowry and Bonnie Garrison.

Visitiation will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2020, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel, 2608 US-71 Mena, Arkansas. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 28, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel.

Dythia will be laid to rest next to Paul at the Pinecrest Memorial Park in Mena, Arkansas under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home.

Karen Louise Strout Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Karen Louise Strout announces her passing on August 22, 2020 in her home surrounded by family.

Karen, age 68, of Hatfield, Arkansas was born March 5, 1952 in Cherryfield, Maine to Alton and Lillian Strout.

Karen was a hard worker all of her life. She loved horses, card games, bunco, crocheting, dancing, sport cars, and spending quality time with her close friends. She enjoyed early morning coffee visits with her local friends in the community. Her greatest accomplishments were her daughters and her grandchildren. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. Karen was always thinking of others, donating to those in need and volunteering within the community. Up until her very last appointment at Genesis Cancer Center, Karen was bringing donuts and breakfast sandwiches to her doctor and nurses. She wanted to make sure that they knew how much she appreciated them. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

She is survived by her parents, Alton and Lillian Strout of Milbridge, Maine; boyfriend of 28 years, Ronnie Ward; daughter, Brandy Mccoy and husband Randal of Hatfield, Arkansas; daughter, Jodie Mesko and husband Rich of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; brother, Garry Strout and wife Janet of Auxvasse Missouri; sister, Diane Robinson and husband Wade of Marshfield, Maine; sister, Peggy Strout of Goldsboro, Maine; grandson, Cody Mccoy and wife Erin of Hatfield, Arkansas; grandson, Austin Mccoy of Hatfield, Arkansas; granddaughter, Katie Mesko of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; granddaughter, Eliza Mesko of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; and grandson, Kaleb McCoy of Hatfield Arkansas. She was also anxiously awaiting her first great grandchild due in November. Karen is also survived by her best friend, David Putman; and a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Karen is preceded in death by her loving husband, Tommy Colson of Hatfield, Arkansas.

A Celebration of Karen's life will be held on Saturday, August 29th at 11:00 AM at Hatfield First Baptist Church, Hatfield, Arkansas with Reverend Ron Tilley officiating. Honorary Pall Bearers include, David Putman of Hochatown, Oklahoma, Bob "Bobbie" Merchant of Ava, Missouri, John Merchant of Dixmont, Maine, and Wayne Fairless of Smithville, Oklahoma.

Albert B. Head Obituary

Mr. Albert B. Head, age 68, of Ozark, Arkansas passed away Friday, August 21, 2020 in Ozark. He was born on December 13, 1951 in Potter, Arkansas to the late Ores E. Head and the late Beatrice Hass Head.

Albert was united in marriage to Rainey Day. He was a truck driver and traveled with his wife Rainey for many years. After retirement, he took a job at Precision Rat Hole in Ozark where he enjoyed his work and his fellow employees. Albert loved spending his spare time tinkering in his garage and especially enjoyed woodworking. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife Rainey Day; sons Trent Head and wife Bethani, D. J. Head and wife Diane, Danny Head and wife Megan; 7 Grandchildren; brothers Ores Earnest Head, Benny Head, Bodie Frisco Kid Head; sisters Orlene Clift, Bethena Reynolds; and his uncle Vernon Hass.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Mitchell Edward “Mickey” Head; and a sister Emma Jean Hall.

Graveside service will be Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Old Dallas Cemetery with Brother Russell Threet officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home in Mena, Arkansas. Visitation is general.

Vivian Dee James

July 10, 1952 - August 18, 2020

 

Vivian James, age 68 of Mena, Arkansas died at her home on Tuesday, August 18, 2020. She was born Thursday, July 10, 1952 in Fort Worth, Texas to Richard Herman and Dorothy Knight Venable.

Vivian believed in the Lord and was a proud Christian woman. She spent a big part of her life caring for children, over 200 of them since 1973.

Vivian was a devoted wife and spent her time caring for her family and giving them a loving home. She enjoyed the past years caring for her children and grandchildren and was proud of each of them. She loved shopping and spending time with her family and friends.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Dorothy Venable.

She is survived by her husband, Frank James of Board Camp; four sons and daughter in law, Jeremy and Melanie James of Mena, Jared James of Texas, JR James of Little Rock, and Christopher of Mena; one brother and sister in law, Tim and Tammy of Mena; two sisters and brother in law, Charlotte and Jesse of Justin, Texas, and Cynthia of Mena. Vivian has eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Vivian will be missed by many family and friends.

Mr. Henry David Howard Obituary

Mr. Henry David Howard, age 66, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma passed away Friday, August 14, 2020 at his home in Mena.

Henry was born June 26, 1954 in Joplin, Missouri to Virgil Howard and the late Willa Ryals Howard. Mr. Howard was raised in Broken Bow, Oklahoma; and after graduating from high school he embarked on his 21-year Naval career. Henry retired from the United States Navy in 1996. He served time in the Navy as an aircraft mechanic some of which was in Desert Storm. Henry loved his time in the Navy and serving his country. He was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be dearly missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by son: Jonathon Howard

Daughters: Jennifer Wood and Amy Howard

Grandchildren: Chris Wood, Rebecca Wood, Kaylie Wood, Ashlyn Belk, Brayden Belk, Scarlet Howard, Caden Howard, Grant Howard, Colten Howard, and Weston Howard

Father: Virgil Howard

Brother: Randy Howard and wife Cheryl

Sister: Lanelle Brand and husband Stephen

Numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

Henry was preceded in death by his wife; Carolyn Howard and his mother; Willa Howard.

Maurice Primm Obituary

Maurice Primm age 85 of Mena, Arkansas passed away Thursday, August 13, 2020 peacefully at his home.

He was born on December 6, 1934, in Stephens, Arkansas to the late Lester and Edith Primm. He was married to Lynn Campbell Primm for 18 years. He was an auxiliary officer in Springhill, Louisiana and later in Mena. He owned and operated Primm’s Texaco and Northside Auto for many years. Maurice was an avid outdoorsman. He loved camping, hunting, fishing and anything outside. He raised cows, donkeys and horses and was known as work-a-holic. Maurice was also known for generously helping those in need. If he could help, he would. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother and friend and will be dearly missed by all.

He is survived by wife: Lynn Campbell Primm of the home

Daughters: Diane Smith and husband Larry of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Linda Rowe and husband Ricky of Mena, Arkansas, and Tonya Warrington of Mena, Arkansas

Son: Art Warrington and wife Amanda of Mena, Arkansas

Grandchildren: Justin Bowen, Denette Taylor, Marcus Stevens, Rebeca Stevens, Warren Rowe, Jennifer Youngblood, Eric Rowe, Ryan Rowe, Travis Warrington and Tara Lynn Davis.

Carolyn Sue Lawrence, age 66, of Mena, Arkansas passed away Thursday, August 13, 2020 in Ft. Worth, Texas. She was born January 24, 1954 in Lebanon, Oregon to Wayne and Jessie Lee Kesterson.

Carolyn worked as a nurse. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and bargain shopping. She was also an excellent cook. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her son, Chad Lawrence and fiancé Elizabeth; mother, Jessie Lee Kesterson; grandchildren, Jacob Bane Lawrence, and Brody Lawrence; brothers, Bobby Kesterson, and Keith Kesterson; in-laws, Jimmy Lawrence and wife Majel, Jeanette Kesterson, Doris Kesterson, and Cliff Lawrence; uncle, Henry “Dink” McCauley; aunt, Mary Lou McCauley; and nieces and nephews, Becky, Kristy, Billy, Trena, Jason, Jimmy, Brad, William, Tammy, and Jennifer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Lawrence; father, Wayne Kesterson; one brother; and in-laws, Gloria and Jackie Jones, and Lonnie Lawrence.

A graveside service for Mrs. Lawrence will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, August 16, 2020 at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Cove, Arkansas. A visitation for family and friends is scheduled from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Saturday, August 15, 2020 at the funeral home. The family requests that social distancing and mask guidelines be followed.

Tammy Kay Gibson Obituary

Ms. Tammy Kay Gibson, age 59, of Ashdown, Arkansas passed away August 11, 2020 in Texarkana, Texas. She was born August 24, 1961 in Sherman, Texas.

Our sweet Tammy went to Heaven to join her Dad, Clayton Gibson; her Nanny, Ann Petta; her Maw Maw, Verda Pitcock; and Uncle, Michael Petta. She is survived by 3 sisters and 2 brothers. She tells everyone her sister Ginny DeLo of Ben Lomond is her momma. Her eldest sister is Terry Ann and Mark Woodall of Durant, and youngest sister is Wendy and Dale Needham of Ben Lomond. Her two brothers are Clayton (Bubba) and Lori Gibson of Houston and Gary and Tina Gibson of Keota, Oklahoma. She has 2 uncles Anthony and Diane Petta, and Corky Petta. She has numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews that loved her very much.

Tammy was always happy and made everyone around her laugh. She made friends everywhere and was a joy to be around. Even though Tammy was 59 she had thoughts and a young girls outlook on life.

A graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Denison, Texas on Monday, August 17, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.

James Morris Watkins Obituary

James Morris Watkins, age 65, of Vandervoort, Arkansas passed away Monday, August 10, 2020 in Texarkana, Texas. He was born on March 8, 1955 in Mena, Arkansas to Morris Dale Watkins and Bertha Lillian (Daniels) Watkins.

Morris was a kind, gracious, and humble man, who lived life full and blessed with a large loving extended family, especially his beloved Cindy, Luke, and Clay. He was a logger, farmer, and avid outdoorsman who loved camping and cooking outdoors. He and Cindy built their family home on the site where his grandparents lived. They exceled in welcoming family and friends throughout their 47 years. He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife Cindy, of the home; sons, Lucas Wade Watkins and wife Lindsey of Vandervoort, and Clayton Lee Watkins and wife Debra of Vandervoort; grandchildren, Levi, Kaylee, Landon, Kensleigh, Easton, and Talynn; mother, Bertha “Tinker” Watkins of Vandervoort; sister, Mary Leandra “Tooter” Putty of Hico, Texas; brother, Larry Watkins of Vandervoort; exchange students, Marzena, Michael, Ninja, Edward, and Hani; and a host of friends.

Morris was preceded in death by his father, Morris Dale Watkins; and brother, Phill Watkins.

A funeral service for Mr. Watkins will be held 10:00 am Saturday, August 15, 2020 at the First Baptist Church in Cove, Arkansas with Bro. Ron Ladd officiating. Interment will follow in Center Cemetery in Vandervoort.

Pallbearers are Frank Hoyle, Ray Bailey, Bill Barrett, Randy Milam, Chuck Bell, and Raymond Dees. Honorary pallbearers are Terry Scott and Tim Scott.

Visitation at the funeral home will be general. A scheduled visitation will begin at 9:30 am at the church prior to the service on Saturday.

Mervyn James Lynch, age 84, died Saturday, August 8, 2020 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on Monday, December 9, 1935 to Mervyn Edward and Helen Jarrett Lynch in San Francisco, California.

Mervyn was a good Christian man who served proudly in the United States Air Force. He worked as a security officer for many years at various factories and the airport. Mervyn was a man of responsibility and work ethic, and never failed to take care of his family. His family was incredibly important to him. Mervyn was a loving husband and father, and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Mervyn is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Joy Lynch of Mena; and one son and daughter in law, James and Mary Lynch of Mena.

No services are planned at this time. Cremation arrangements entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena, Arkansas.

Glenda LaRue Renfro Hastey

Glenda LaRue Renfro Hastey passed from this life on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at home surrounded by her family. She was married to Kenneth Earl Hastey for 57 years before his passing in 2018.

Glenda was born October 7, 1938 in Littlefield, Texas to Norman Thomas Renfro and Pauline Juanita Tyler Renfro. She grew up in Littlefield and worked alongside her family at Renfro Grocery. Her father and uncle were the owners, and were also twins. She had lots of funny stories involving them and their antics. She was a member of First Baptist of Littlefield and always had a heart for missions, as evidenced by her early involvement in Girls in Action.

She graduated Littlefield High School in 1957 and married Kenneth Earl Hastey on April 15, 1960. They and their two sons moved to Mena in 1971 for Kenneth's job with SWEPCO. Glenda enjoyed being a wife and homemaker for many years.

When her youngest son, Keith was in college, she attended Henderson State University, completing a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree. She taught art for a time at Rich Mountain Community College. In her spare time, she enjoyed working on art projects in her backyard art studio. She particularly enjoyed working on pieces where her grandchildren were the subjects.

Glenda loved the Lord and was active in First Baptist Church of Mena for over 40 years serving as Sunday School teacher for the hearing impaired and interpreted the worship service as well as the message. She was thrilled to serve on a mission trip to Romania, falling in love with the people there, and later she and Kenneth served the people of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. She also interpreted in the Hatfield school system for the hearing-impaired student and served as an advocate for that student.

Glenda was a prayer warrior and if she said she would pray for you, she would. She baked cakes, made meals, sat with hurting people, and lived out the spiritual gifts of serving, teaching, giving, and mercy. She loved and supported her daughters-in-law as if they were her own. To have known her was to be blessed.

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters-in-law, Doris Hastey Vick, Jean Brown Hastey, Patricia Ann South Renfro; her brothers-in-law, Doyle Hastey, J.D. Vick and Lawrence Evins.

She is survived by children, Kenneth DeWayne Hastey and wife, Doris Shields Hastey of Mena and Keith Darren Hastey and wife, Alicia Baber Hastey of Mena, her brother, Colonel Paul Renfro of San Antonio, Texas, sister-in-law, Imogene Hastey Evins Meriott of Wamego, Kansas; her grandchildren. Kalen Hastey of Fayetteville, Brooke Hastey, Liam Hastey, and Kaielor Hastey all of Mena; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

A graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at the Pinecrest Memorial Park in Mena with Dr. Lamar Austin officiating. No visitation planned. Arrangements are entrusted to Bowser Funeral Home Chapel in Mena, Arkansas.

Lily Jane Jenkins Conley Bell Obituary

Lily Jane (Jenkins) Conley Bell, age 79, of Wickes, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2020 in Mena, Arkansas. She was born on March 15, 1941 in the Duckett Community near Wickes to the late James Nolan Jenkins and Ora Minnie (Demorest) Jenkins.

Lily married James Thomas Conley on April 11, 1964. Lily was a very hard worker and enjoyed spending time with her family, church family, and friends. She was a seamstress for many years and enjoyed cooking. She ran many restaurants. She was a devoted member of the Wickes Nazarene Church where she enjoyed playing the piano, singing, and fellowship. Lily’s most favorite past time was visiting with her kids and grandkids.

She is survived by her son, James P. Conley and wife Debbie of Smithville, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Jennifer Slaton and husband Matthew, Brittany Conley, Melissa Conley, and Bryan Conley; sisters, Lora Fern Taylor, Laural Miller, and Lila Jenkins; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Nolan and Ora Jenkins; first husband, James Thomas Conley; second husband, John Bell; sisters, Lou Ann Jenkins, Laverne Jenkins, and Lady Jenkins; and brothers, Loyd Jenkins, and Lacey Jenkins.

A funeral service for Mrs. Bell will be held 2:00 pm Monday, August 10, 2020 at the Wickes Church of the Nazarene with Rev. David Baker and Thomas Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery near Wickes. Visitation at the funeral home will be general.

November 3, 1961 - August 4, 2020

 

Shari Ladell Breaux, age 58, of Mena, Arkansas died Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at her home. She was born on Sunday, November 3, 1961 to Billie Lynn and Julia Marie Smith Meador in Pasadena, Texas.

Shari believed in the Lord and was a good Christian woman. She spent her life taking care of her family and providing them with a warm and loving home. Shari cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, and was very proud of them. She enjoyed going shopping, dancing, and sewing in her free time. Shari was a loving mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.

Preceded in death by her father, Billie Meador.

Survivors include her sons and daughter in law, Buck Strother of Fort Smith and Dakota and Kala Strother of Mena; two daughters and sons in law, Raychel and David Hill of Mena and Sarah and Jonah Sarabia of Eunice, New Mexico; her mother, Julia Barnidge of Pasadena, Texas; step mother, Claudia Meador of Dayton, Texas; brother, Don Meador of Pasadena, Texas; sisters, Cindy Corder of Pasadena, Texas and LaQuitta Breaux of Pasadena, Texas; her soulmate, Shayne Breaux of Pasadena, Texas; twelve grandchildren, Faith Hill, Gracie Hill, Charish Hill, Kady Strother, Clara Strother, Jayden Kelley, Cooper Strother, Kasen Strother, Truitt Strother, Ace Sarabia, Gage Sarabia and Jayne Sarabia; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Mama Nell Family Cemetery in Mena, Arkansas with Brother Don Meador officiating. Burial arrangements are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena, Arkansas.

Gladys Georgia Denton

February 22, 1924 - July 31, 2020

 

Gladys Georgia Denton, age 96, of Potter, Arkansas died Friday, July 31, 2020 at the Mena Regional Health System. She was born on Friday, February 22, 1924 to Johnathan Brack and Myrtle Watkins Walston in Mena, Arkansas.

Gladys loved her family and spending time with them and spoiling her grandchildren. She was a founding member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Potter and served as Secretary and Treasurer for many years. She enjoyed music and especially Merle Haggard and making and sewing clothes for her family. At the age of 50, Gladys went back to school and received her GED and was very proud of that achievement. Gladys was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Alvin Jewell Denton; one son, Bobby Alan Denton; one brother, C.L. "Pete" Walston; four sisters, Hester Smith, Hazel Denton, Edna Gray, and Betty Jo Ammons.

Gladys is survived by her daughter, Betty Smith of Mena; two grandchildren, David Smith of Mena, and Debra Miller of Mena; three great grandchildren, Kathryn Miller of Fort Worth, Texas, Joel Miller of Mena, and Jacob Miller of Mena; several nephews and nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Monday, August 3, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena with Brother Keith Rose officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery at Potter. Arrangements are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena, Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers Memorials can be made to the Gann Cemetery Fund, C/O Rita Keener, 155 Polk 710, Mena, Arkansas 71953.

Pallbearers will be Joel Miller, Jacob Miller, Debra Miller, Kathryn Miller, Monty Gray and Jerry Denton.
