Doris Jane Dixon

Doris Jane Dixon, age 62, of Hatton, Arkansas passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at her home surrounded by family. She was born on Monday, May 12, 1958 to Jessie Charles and Faye Lucille Martin Broach in Mena, Arkansas.

Doris was a beloved teacher at Cove and Cossatot River Schools for thirty years. She was very proud of the work she did and the difference she made in her student's lives. She liked mowing her grass and gardening, and keeping the yard nice. Her family was very special to her. Doris loved making them her Navajo Tacos and yeast rolls just as much as they enjoyed eating them. Doris was a loving wife, mother, sister, nana, aunt, and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Jessie Broach, Alfred Broach, and Tom Broach; and one sister, Annie Casey.

Doris is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, DeWayne Dixon of Hatton; two sons and daughters in law, Charles and Krisi Dixon of Cove, and Todd and Nonie Dixon of Hatton; two daughters and sons in law, Linda and Kevin Terry of Hatton, and Mary and Chris Martinez of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; two brothers, Carl Broach of Cove, and Glen Broach of Cove; six sisters, Betty Holley of Dove Creek, Colorado, Fran Bates of Hatton, Alice Catherwood of Plunketteville, Oklahoma, Peggy Wilkinson of Hatton, Edna Dixon of Waldron, and Margaret Miller of Cove; sixteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; honorary brother, Todd Scott of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; honorary sister, Gale Kuykendall of Cove; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 31, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at the Westview Cemetery in Cove with Don Youngblood and Tim Smedley officiating. No visitation is planned. Burial arrangements are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral in Mena, Arkansas.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Fall, Jordan Bond, Justin Bond, David Dixon, Shawn Pollard, and Steven Green.

Dorothy "Dottie" Corinne McKinney

Dorothy (Dottie) Corinne McKinney, age 104, of Board Camp, Arkansas, passed from this life to Heaven on Sunday, October 25, 2020. She was born on August 17, 1916, to Ralph Haines and Orva Corinne (Breneman) McKinley, in Ravenna, Ohio.

After high school graduation in 1934, Dorothy worked as a clerk for the B&O Railroad. In 1945, she married WWII Army Veteran Thomas (Tom) McKinney of McHenry, Kentucky. Two daughters were born to them. In 1965, they moved from Ohio to Los Angeles, California, where jobs were plentiful, and they worked until retirement in 1981. They retired to Redding, CA, to be near their grandchildren. In 2006, they moved to Board Camp to spend their last years in the care of daughter Cheryl and son-in-law Orville Murphy.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband; her parents and three sisters Margaret, Janette and Betty, all of Ohio.

She is survived by daughter Cheryl and Orville Murphy of Board Camp; her daughter Brenda McKinney of Millville, CA; 5 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Elite Hospice and Rich Mountain Nursing & Rehab of Mena, Arkansas, for their wonderful care of Dorothy.

Arrangements entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home of Mena. There is no service planned. Dorothy's cremains will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Tom, at Lawncrest Memorial Park in Redding, California, with family in attendance.

Max Jones

Max Jones, age 84, of Mena, died Sunday, October 25, 2020 at the Arkansas Hospice in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was born on Sunday, October 18, 1936 to Guy and Mable Irene Hunsaker Jones in Grannis, Arkansas.

Max was a faithful Christian who served his Lord humbly and his country proudly. Max served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1958 and was honorably discharged. He was a member of the Arkansas Mayor's Association, the National Association of Purchasing Agents, former member of the First Baptist Church in Grannis, Arkansas, Colleyville, Texas, and Mena, Arkansas and an active member of the Christ's Community Fellowship in Mena. His philosophy for life was always to keep it simple. He was very proud of his career and took great pride in the work he did. His family was always his top priority and he loved them all to the very end. Max was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joel Jones and Winfred Jones.

Max is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Inez Thomas Jones of Mena; one son, Jeffrey Max Jones and wife, Marion Steers Jones of Lilburn, Georgia; and daughter, Julie Ann Jones of Bryant, Arkansas; sister, Barbara Kendrick of Lenexa, Kansas; five grandchildren, Corrie Appelbaum of Oakland, California, Steven Jones of Prosper, Texas, Emily Langley of Dunwoody, Georgia, Nathan Jones of San Mateo, California, and Aspen Trevino of Grand Prairie, Texas; one great granddaughter, Madeline Appelbaum of Oakland, California; and several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Friday, October 30, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at the Christ's Community Fellowship in Mena. Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Park in Mena. Visitation will be Thursday, October 29, 2020 from 6-8 PM at the Bowser Family Funeral Home chapel.

Paul Henry Mahoney

Paul Henry Mahoney, beloved son of John and Laura Mahoney and brother of Mark and John Ross, returned to his Heavenly Father on October 19, 2020 in Mena, Arkansas. Paul was raised in the Catholic faith and knew Jesus was his Savior.

Paul was born on June 10, 1993 in Newport News, Virginia. His childhood was spent in rural western New York where he learned to hunt, fish and swim. Intelligent and tender hearted, Paul excelled in school. His high school years were busy with honor society and being a member of the football and wrestling teams. Making people laugh, especially his family, was on of his favorite pastimes. Others included watching goofy comedies, reading Stephen King novels, and listening to Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd and the Grateful Dead.

As a college student, Paul earned an Associate Degree in Healthcare. After moving to Mena two years ago, he was employed as a CNC operator at Nidec.

Paul was a large man with a generous tender heart and a shy demeanor. One of his last acts was to save his Grandma Sheila from a house fire which destroyed her home. He was a kind man who will be sorely missed, particularly by his family.

Paul Henry Mahoney is survived by his parents, John and Laura Mahoney of Mena, brother, Mark and wife, Maegen and niece, Jenny Grace of Selma, North Carolina, brother, John Ross Mahoney III (Trey) of Alma, Arkansas, grandparents, Doug and Joyce Warner of New York, Sheila Warner of Mena and John and Julie Mahoney of Mena. He is also survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins, great aunts, and uncles. Last, but not least, by his faithful dog, Clyde.

Howard Henry Elliott

Howard Henry Elliott, age 73, of Mena, Arkansas passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at the Mena Regional Health System. He was born on Thursday, February 20, 1947 to Emmett Charles and Gisela Louise Elsinger Elliott in Sondershausen, Germany.

Howard proudly served in the United States Coast Guard and National Guard as a Radioman during Vietnam. He was a collector of many interesting things and was a Shortwave Radio Amateur enthusiast. Howard was a loving husband and brother and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Howard is survived by his wife, Katie Elliott of Mena; and one brother, Dwight Elliott of Westminster, California; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Bobby Andrew Pullen

Bobby Andrew Pullen, age 72, died Sunday, October 11, 2020 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on Monday, July 5, 1948 to Andrew Jackson and Madge Lou Deramus Pullen in Mena, Arkansas.

Bobby became a Christian later in life and was baptized. He volunteered during a time of drafting and went in to serve proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He believed that his word was his bond, and he always lived by that value. Bobby worked for the Cimeron Lumber Yard in Hatfield for seventeen years. He enjoyed woodworking, welding, and most of all, working side by side with his Dad. His children and grandchildren were so important to him, and he was very proud of his family. Bobby said his greatest joy was marrying his wife, Pamela. Bobby was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle, and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Billy Ray Pullen.

Bobby is survived by his loving wife, Pam Pullen of Mena; one son and daughter in law, Andy and Connie Pullen of Wink, Texas; one daughter, Sherry VanZant of Medlin, Texas; one brother, Jeff Pullen of Mena; one sister, Karen Peek of Vandervoort; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren; several nephews and nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.

Sondra Kay Harvey

Sondra Kay Harvey, age 66, of Acorn, Arkansas, died Saturday, October 3, 2020 at her home. She was born Monday, August 16, 1954 to Herman Lee and Julia Ann Knox Hill in Black Fork, Arkansas.

Kay was a woman the loved the Lord and her family. She was of the Baptist faith and was saved at a young age. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and singing and listening to music. Kay enjoyed watching the deer and birds from her front porch. She also enjoyed watching western movies. She was an excellent cook and her family loved her waffles and especially her desserts, her Brown and Yellow Pies. Kay loved her Arkansas Razorback Football team. Kay was a loving mother, sister, Gran, aunt and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rocky Harvey; two brothers, Billy Ray Hill and Larry Hill and one sister, Wanda Reichert.

Kay is survived by her son, Michael Harvey of Acorn; her daughters, Sonya Kyle of Mena and Kaylene Harvey of Acorn; three brothers, Gene Hill of Heavener, Oklahoma, Darryl Hill of Page, Oklahoma and Jeff Hill of Clarksville; four sisters, Pat Powell of Mena, Stella Benjamin of Mena, Sue Carter of Mena and Brenda Reel of Bates, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Nicholas Harvey of Fort Smith, Olivia Harvey of Mena, Sonny Harvey of Cove, Mekinzie Kyle of Mena and Braxton Kyle of Mena; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at 1:00 P.M. at Black Fork Cemetery near Black Fork, Arkansas under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena. Visitation will be Monday, October 5, 2020 from 6-8 P.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel.
