Bobby Lee Galloway Obituary

Bobby Lee Galloway age 74, of Mena, Arkansas died on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at the Mena Regional Health System in Mena, Arkansas. He was born on Thursday, February 6, 1947 to Claude and Othel Raines Prine in Winnsboro, Texas.

Bobby was a Christian man who attended the Dallas Avenue Baptist Church in Mena. He was united in marriage for 47 years to his loving wife Gale. Bobby served in the Navy where he was an active member of the military transport team that recovered fallen soldiers by helicopter while serving in Vietnam. After moving to Mena, Bobby took a great interest in gardening. He especially loved caring for his fruit trees and raising vegetables from his garden. Bobby enjoyed listening to country music and racing motorcycles. He was very accomplished at racing motorcycles and had placed 3rd in the big state race in Arizona. He was a machinist and loved to work on cars. Bobby was proud of the two classic cars he owned and enjoyed tinkering on them whenever given the opportunity. He was a hard worker and was always willing to lend a helping hand to others in need. Bobby was superb at everything he did because he felt anything worth doing was worth doing right. Bobby was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Othel Prine; and one sister, Glenda.

Bobby is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Gale Galloway of Mena; one son and daughter in law, Jon and Jessica Galloway of Las Vegas, Nevada; two grandchildren, Jasmine Galloway and Charissa Galloway of Las Vegas, Nevada ; one niece, Tammy; and two nephews, Wayne and David; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at the Dallas Avenue Baptist Church. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena.

Mrs. Beverly Annette Watkins Bledsoe Obituary

Mrs. Beverly Annette Watkins Bledsoe, age 85, of Hatfield passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2021 in Mena, Arkansas.

Beverly was born June 14, 1935 in Baraboo, Wisconsin, to the late Lester Watkins and the late LaVeta Haskins Watkins. After graduating high school Beverly attended nursing school and met the love of her life, Bill Bledsoe. After their marriage in 1955 she became a loving homemaker, ensuring that her home remained beautiful and comfortable for her family to enjoy. Beverly enjoyed traveling, she especially loved Alaska. She also loved to read and sew. Mrs. Bledsoe was a member of the Hatfield Baptist Church for many years. Beverly was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Beverly is survived by her grandchildren, Harley Davison and wife Debbie of Glenrose, Texas, Bonnie Peterson and husband Heath of Mena, Arkansas, Jennifer Zarnes and husband David of Hatfield, Arkansas, Amanda Sorel and husband Eddie of Mena, Arkansas, and Rebecca Scull and husband Shane of Littlerock, California; twenty great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill Bledsoe; one son, Bruce Dana Bledsoe; one daughter, Robyn Davison; and one sister, LaVeta Jean Schnell.

Graveside services will be held 10:00am Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Ten Mile Cemetery in Madisonville, Texas. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 30, 2021 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Beasley Wood Funeral Home.

Kathleen Meehl Obituary

Kathleen Meehl, age 58, of Cove, Arkansas, formerly of Andover, Massachusetts, passed away Friday, May 21, 2021 at her home. Kathleen was born July 5, 1962 in Lawrence, Massachusetts to James Coakley and Dorothy Stoddard Coakley.

Kathleen enjoyed the outdoors and camping with her husband. Above all, she loved her family and spending time with them. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all.

She is survived by sons: Daniel Meehl and fiance’ Roza Osipova of Whitinsville, Massachusetts and Keith Meehl of Whitinsville, Massachausetts

Daughter: Lynn Pannell and husband Richard of Cove, Arkansas

Grandchildren: Peter Kolbe, Jonathan Kolbe, Allyssa Giasson, Payton Gaisson, Ava Meehl and step-grandchild Harlee Pannell

Great Grandchild: Paisley Kolbe

Brothers: Barry Coakley, David Coakley, and Thomas Coakley

Sister: Michelle Duke.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents and husband Daniel Meehl.

Oleda June Putman Obituary

Oleda June Putman, age 86, of Texas City, Texas formerly of Mena passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021. She was born June 26, 1934 in Enid, Oklahoma to Finis Brackston Guthrie and Audrey Lee Banks Guthrie.

Oleda’s hobbies included going antiquing and shopping. She also enjoyed camping, fishing, and cooking. She loved to hear gospel and country music. Oleda was a wonderful mother, sister, cousin, and aunt who loved her family dearly.

She is survived by her son, Greg Putman of Houston, Texas; daughter, Lori Spradlin and husband Steven of Friendswood, Texas; brothers, Lonnie Guthrie, and Lanny Guthrie; nephews, Ian Curtis, and Stanley Tucker; sister-in-law, Melba Griffin; nieces, Sharon Tucker-Partin, Susan Anderson, Paula Foster; cousins, Pat and Marsha Riley, Sally Burgess, Jay, and Jill Burgess. Oleda was preceded in death by her parents; husband Eldridge; sisters, Earlene Burge, and Shirley Bass; brothers, Joe, and Roy Guthrie; and nephew, Steven Burge.

Graveside service will be Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Big Fork, Arkansas with Brother Mark Lyle officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.

Helen Maxine Moore Obituary

Helen Maxine Moore, age 68, of Zafra, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, May 16, 2021 at home. Helen was born on December 1, 1952 in Mena, Arkansas to Bennett Joseph Anderson and Beryl Foley Anderson.

Maxine was a very headstrong woman; it was going to be her way or the highway. She never gave up that fighting spirit. She was always bragging on her children and her grandchildren. Maxine was immensely proud of her grandchildren always talking about how smart and talented they are. She was always crocheting blankets for each new baby and was always happy to do it. Maxine loved being a nurse and working with the elderly. She was loved and will be missed more than words can say.

She is survived by son, Keith Ray and wife Deborah of Donaldson, Arkansas; daughters, Misty Dawn Dearing and husband Matt of Merkel, Texas, and Kristy Dehart and fiancé Chris Winkles of Abilene, Texas; grandchildren, Conner Gorby and wife Madison, Shyann Gorby, Gracie Dearing, Nathaniel Paschall, Zoe Paschall, Kaden Winkles, and Jacob Ray; sister Pamela O’Bar of Norman, Arkansas; and numerous other family and friends.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Bennie Carter, Bessie Chaney, Rozilla Gist, Anna Hughes, Edna Mullins, Louise Cogburn; and 2 sets of infant twins.

Graveside service will be Friday, May 21, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Hatfield, Arkansas with Brother Donnie Jewell officiating. Dolores Earlene Martin Obituary

Dolores Earlene Martin, age 94, of Mena, Arkansas, died Thursday, May 28, 2020, at her home surrounded by family. She was born on Sunday, August 15, 1926 to Bryce Earl and Georgia Ann Higgins Loomis in Best, Texas.

Dolores was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served 26 years as the librarian and taught many different classes as well. She especially loved to teach the small children in Church. Dolores was a member of the Ladies Relief Society. She was passionate about animals of all kinds but especially her horses and dogs. Dolores believed animals showed their love expecting no reward in return. She raised and trained Quarter Horses for both showing and selling.


Dolores was a loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband Forrest Martin; one brother, Bryce Loomis; and one sister, Maxine Burger.

Dolores is survived by her daughter, Barbara Brooks; two brothers, Roy Loomis and Dieghton Loomis; three sisters, Darlene Hansen, Patricia McCarter and Barbara Elliot; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at the Six Mile Cemetery in Hatfield, with President Tom McClanahan officiating under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena, Arkansas.

David Roland Dawson Obituary

David Roland Dawson, age 65, of Mena, Arkansas died on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at UAMS in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born on Friday, December 16, 1955 to Eugene Floyd Dawson and Ina Mae Prince Dawson in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

David was a loving man who spent many years serving the Lord as a pastor in several different places including Ardmore, Oklahoma, Texas, and Cove, Arkansas. His family and God brought him the greatest joy in life. He was especially proud to lead others to the Lord in the sharing of the Gospel of Christ. David was blessed with 45 years of marriage to the love of his life, Darlene. He said her smile was infectious and always brought him great joy. David enjoyed getting to talk on the phone and playing with his grandkids and visit with them while sharing many stories. He loved to see their smiling faces. David was an avid traveler and visited Australia and the Philippines for missionary work and enjoyed camping in New Mexico, Colorado, and many other places with his family. He liked woodworking, fishing, fixing up old cars and playing card games. David took great joy in teaching his grandchildren how to do things and showing them the love of Christ. David was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his father, Eugene Floyd Dawson.

David is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Darlene Dawson of Mena, Arkansas; three sons and daughters in law, David Dwight and Waynette Dawson of Ardmore, Oklahoma; Daniel Eugene and Brandy Dawson of Springer, Oklahoma; Darrell Roland and Nova Dawson of Marlin, Texas; one daughter, Diana Marie Dawson of Mena, Arkansas; his mother, Ina Mae Dawson of Rowlett, Texas; one brother, Doug Dawson of Mesquite, Texas; two sisters and brothers in law, Dawna and Mike Herring of Aledo, Texas and Denise and Greg Davis of Tulsa, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren, Deanna Dawson, Dayna Dawson, Demi Dawson, Deven Dawson, Dean Dawson, Dwight Dawson, Daylee Dawson, Hannah Dawson, "Little" Daniel Dawson, Benjamin Dawson, Rebekah Dawson, Elizabeth Dawson, and Matthew Dawson; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 1:00 PM at the Paradise Valley Cemetery in Lawton, Oklahoma with Brother David Dawson and Brother Daniel Dawson officiating under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena, Arkansas.

Pallbearers will be David Dawson, Daniel Dawson, Darrell Dawson, Deven Dawson, Dwight Gonzales, and Greg Davis.

Mr. James Edward Upton Obituary

Mr. James Edward Upton, age 69, of Mena, Arkansas passed away Monday, May 17, 2021 in Mena. He was born on May 18, 1951 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to the late Luther and Lucille (Craft) Upton.

James was united in marriage to Lorraina (Taylor) Upton for twenty-three years. James enjoyed fishing and driving around. He loved his family and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraina Upton; son, James RonDale and wife Kelsey of Mena; daughters, April Upton of Okmulgee, Autumn Shepardson of Okmulgee, and Kimberlina Upton of Mena; several grandchildren; brother, Roger Upton of Henryetta, OK, and Joanna Thompson of Beggs, OK; stepson, Nathan Fanning and wife Tina of Mena; and stepdaughter, Charity Stewart and husband Michael of Henryetta, OK.

Wanda Lee Wadkins Hamilton Obituary

Wanda Lee Wadkins Hamilton, age 85, of Vandervoort, Arkansas passed away Thursdany, May 13, 2021 in Texarkana, Texas. She was born February 6, 1936 in Vandervoort, Arkansas to Charles Addison Wadkins and Gladys Lee Hunter Wadkins. Wanda was united in marriage to David Leland “Lee” Hamilton until his passing in 2008.

Wanda was a United Methodist Minister, lifelong book reader, and a loving wife and mother. She loved a good story. She will be missed.

Wanda is survived by her daughter, Holly Lee Hamilton; as well as numerous Hamilton and Bolser family on her husband's side. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Funeral service will be Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Center Cemetery in Hartley, Arkansas under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.

Darrell Lee Titsworth, age 84, of Mena was called home to the Lord on Friday, May 14, 2021.

Darrell was born on January 3, 1937 in Nunley to Newton and Marie Ellison Titsworth. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy. Darrell was united in marriage to Vicky LaRue Cook on August 18, 1984. He was active in Real Estate and was an insurance broker. Darrell also was a Real estate appraiser and owner/ manager of apartments. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing with family and friends. Darrell enjoyed working and watching plants grow in his garden. Above all Darrell loved God and his family.

Charles Maxwell Scott Jr. Obituary

Charles Maxwell Scott Jr., age 79, of Board Camp, Arkansas died on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at his home. He was born on Wednesday, May 6, 1942 to Charles Maxwell Scott Sr. and Grace Leona Roberts Scott in Hon, Arkansas.

Charles a hard working and friendly man of the Baptist Faith. He was a truck driver for over 20 years and Camp High Point Park Ranger from 1991-2007 and was known by his camp nickname, "George". He was very proud of his work at the Girl Scout Camp. Charles had a friendly nature and loved to socialize with friends and his family, whom he cared deeply for. He enjoyed fishing and listening to Country Western music. Charles was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Joyce Ann Alexander Obituary

Joyce Ann Alexander, of Cherry Hill moved to Heaven May 10, 2021, her age being eighty-four years, four months, and eight days. She was born in Cherry Hill January 2, 1937, to Ivan and Bertha Deramus. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Mitzi Duckett, infant son, Todd, and stillborn twin boys.

She was a member of Cherry Hill Gospel Church where she taught Sunday school for over 30 years, in which the oldest “young adult” in the group was nearly 70 years old because she was such a wonderful teacher the members didn’t want to graduate out of her class! She had a strong gift of faith and was a powerful prayer warrior. She led many to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior through her personal testimony that she shared in her sphere of influence and through a telephone ministry she had for several years. She served as Polk County Assessor for 16 years.

She was known for her lively laughter, sense of humor, and spunky personality, which showed in things like playing basketball with her teen-aged grandson when she was in her 60’s. “Mimi” and “Papa” went to hundreds of local and out-of-town baseball, football, volleyball games and track events with Mitzi to cheer on the grands they adored during their high school years.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 31 years, Paul Alexander; sister, Sue Egger and husband, Arvin; step-son, Monte Alexander and wife, Eileen; grandchildren, Clay Knighten and wife, Hayden; Whitney Milum and husband, Michael; Rhonda Bensen and husband, John; Kyle Duckett and wife, Heather; great-grandchildren Kate, Easton, Hudson, and Kinley Diane Knighten; Cooper Mac and Conley Grace Milum; Maddie, Lauren, and Charlie Bensen; Trever Pierce; niece, Duana Hawkins; nephew, Scott Egger; and numerous friends and relatives.

A private family service will be held with Brother Mark Lyle and Brother Tom Hartley officiating. A public graveside service will be Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at the Cherry Hill Cemetery with services entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena. No visitation is planned.

Jason Wayne Rye Obituary

Jason Wayne Rye, 38 of Mena, Arkansas passed away Thursday, May 06, 2021. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
 
Jason was born October 18, 1982, in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Paul and Patricia Rye.

Jason graduated from Mena High School in 2001. He married the love of his life, Carmen (Rossborough) Rye, on October 06, 2017. It was Carmen, his mother, Patricia, and his dog that meant the most to him. He stated often that he loved them more than anything or anyone he had ever known. They each loved him greatly in return.

Jason grew up on a farm where he learned his love for animals; especially dogs and horses. He loved going on long horseback rides with his father, Paul. It is at this home, a place that he loved like no other, that he will be laid to rest.

Jason was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Connelly, and brother, Mike Connelly. He is survived by his wife, Carmen Rye, parents Paul and Patricia Rye, his daughter Shauna Hughes, sisters Colleen Cousins and Margaret Stricklin, brother Vince Connelly. He is also survived by his cousins Joe Rye, Danny Rye, David Rye, Shane Rye, and many other family members.

Jason loved his family very much. He is extremely loved by many. He will be missed immensely by many.

Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Curry Cox Obituary

Mrs. Elizabeth Ann (Curry) Cox, age 84, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2021 in Mena. She was born on April 21, 1937 in Mena to the late Sydney Curry and Inez (Egger) Curry.

Elizabeth was united in marriage to Archie Cox. She enjoyed feeding and watching her birds, planting flowers, and working puzzle books. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her son, Terry Cox and wife Paula of Mena; daughters, Kathy Curry of Colorado Springs, CO, and Kelly Bunyard and husband Tommy of Mena; grandchildren, Shakira Holder of Rock Hill, SC, Kolten Summit of Mena, Kassidy Summit of Mena, and Derek Cox and wife Michelle of Fayetteville, AR; sister, Jane Lee, of Mena; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brother, Wayne Curry.

A graveside service for Elizabeth will be held 10:00 am Friday, May 14, 2021 at Rock Springs Cemetery in Posey Hollow with Bro. Mark Lyle officiating. General visitation will be held at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Beasley Wood Funeral Home.

James Aubrey Hamm Obituary

James Aubrey Hamm, age 79, of Mena, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2021 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born on June 16, 1941 in Camden, Arkansas to the late Aubry Hamm and Annette (Baker) Hamm.

James served our country in the United States Navy. He taught at Ouachita Baptist University in the English Department and was also a Deputy Sheriff for Polk County. He did volunteer work, most notably for CASA. James was a “jack of all trades” and spoke many languages. He enjoyed traveling the world and sharing stories with his friends. He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his closest friends, Rene Roberts, and John Watkins; and many other friends too great to mention.

Emily Leann Terrell Smith, age 30, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2021 in Mena.

She was born July 25, 1990 in Little Rock, Arkansas to John Terrell and Vanessa Eileen Guidry. She was married to Carl Allen Odell Smith and was a homemaker and a proud trucker’s wife. She loved to travel, crochet and had a love of frogs and coffee, but her true love was to spend time with her family and to serve our Lord. She was a wonderful and loving wife, daughter, mother, sister, and a friend to all she knew.

She is survived by her father, John Terrell and wife Brandy, her mother, Vanessa Guidry, her husband, Carl Smith, her son, McClaine Smith, her daughter, Hensleigh Smith, brothers, Chad Terrell, Mason Terrell, CJ Chandler, and Ashton Chandler, sisters Jennifer Warden, Ava Terrell and Nova Guidry and her nephew and nieces, Brody Warden, Claudia Warden and Payton Terrell.

She was preceded in death by her children, Aiden, Mitzi and Ean and by her grandparents, Tommy and Marie Terrell and Charlie Entrekin.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Beasley Wood Chapel. Visitation will be Friday evening, May 7th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Earl Berkey Obituary

Earl Berkey, age 93, of Denton, Texas died on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Denton, Texas. He was born on Monday, May 30, 1927 to Edward and Mary Shenk Berkey in Oronogo, Missouri.

Earl was a loving father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Elvera Berkey; and two sons, Glen Berkey and Lester Berkey.

Earl is survived by his son, Paul Berkey of Lake Charles, Louisiana; three daughters, Roberta Dockery of Denton, Texas, Cheryl Nipper, and Mary Jane Racca of Lake Charles, Louisiana; fifteen grandkids, nineteen great grandkids, four great-great grandkids, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena with Brother Grant Geiger officiating. Interment will follow at the Cherry Hill Cemetery under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home.

July 6, 1946 – April 18, 2021

Don A. Sproles of Mena, Arkansas passed from this life Sunday, April 18, 2021. Don was born July 6, 1946 in Beeville, Texas. He was the son of Edgar and Lavada Sproles. He married the love of his life, Carol, on January 2, 1982. He enjoyed gardening and singing in the choir but loved nothing more than God and his family. Memories of his life will forever be cherished by his wife, Carol, brother in law, Rodger Faries and daughters: Sharon Hanes, Stacy Rushing and husband Mike, and Angela Kirk and husband Jonathan. Grandchildren: Mickey Hanes Jr, Cody Hanes, Cadie Hanes, Tayler Rushing, Cole Rushing, Jonas Kirk, Samuel Kirk and Lily Kirk. Great grandchildren: Walker, Cannon, Easton, Juliet and Amelia Hanes. A family only graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 1st, 2021. The family wishes to thank Reverend Bobby Blasingame and Bowser Family Funeral Home.
