Joseph Keith Savage, age 60, of Mena, Arkansas passed away Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
He was born on Thursday, December 7, 1961, to Leland M. Savage and Lois (Batts) Savage in Kinston, North Carolina. Joseph was a loving man who wore many hats in his lifetime. He joined the Air Force as a young man and became a jet engine mechanic. This would be his job for many years. While serving in the Air Force, Joseph had the opportunity to travel to many countries including Germany and Japan as well as fighting fires in a C130 in Idaho and Hawaii. Joseph was an E5 Sargent and served in Desert Storm. Prior to retiring he received many medals and honors for his service. Among his many awards, Joseph received a good conduct medal as well as an organizational excellence award. It was in the Air Force that Joseph was given the nickname of "Tidy Joe". These two awards would continue to have an impact on the way Joseph lived for the remainder of his life. Joseph was a very organized man and was thought to have been one of the most well mannered and kindest men his family had encountered. He loved everyone and was always looking out for their best interest. Joseph loved his Heavenly Father and was a Priest in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for 6 years. He enjoyed sitting on the porch on the swing with his loving wife and son Michael. Joseph found peace in listening to his children talk and watching his grandkids play. He truly felt all was well with the world when they were in his presence. Joseph was passionate about the 2nd Amendment and enjoyed listening to classic rock. He loved to joke and was a classic car enthusiast. Joseph was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Joseph is preceded in death by his parents.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 8 years, Jolina Savage; three sons, Cody Martin and wife Dorothy of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Justin Savage and wife Julie of Norman, Oklahoma, and Michael Savage of Mena, Arkansas; three daughters, Jessica Ritter and husband Tim of Weatherford, Texas, Andreana Poeling and husband Rodney of Duncan, Oklahoma, and Danielle Martin of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two brothers, Wade Savage and wife Michelle of Semi Valley, California and Dwight Savage and wife Denise of Semi Valley, California; one sister, Deborah Grace of Sequim, Washington; 11 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 2, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints in Mena, Arkansas. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 2, 2022 at 9:00 A.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints prior to the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena, Arkansas.
